Renny

OOC: Erm, I think we'll hold it at that so she can use an action if necessary later in the round but her main objective is to get clear of the Apellan and get back to the group.

Davy, aka GM

OOC: Aye.

Tann-Tyra scrambles back to join the rest of the landing party.

OOC: Do you folks want to spend Momentum (or add Threat) to keep the initiative, or let the Apellans go next?
"Course, sir?"

"Out there...thataway."

Nolmir

OOC: Treyva's still relatively far forward without much cover, right? I think it makes sense to spend the Momentum to get him to a safer position before someone turns him into Swiss cheese.

Davy, aka GM

"Course, sir?"

"Out there...thataway."

Patrick Goodman

I concur. I'm pretty sure Treyva does, too.

OOC: Okay, it sounds like you folks want to spend 2 Momentum to keep the initiative, so Treyva can de-ass the area.
"Course, sir?"

"Out there...thataway."

Patrick Goodman

Affirmative. I'll do the narrative tomorrow.

Treyva watched the young Deltan security officer rejoin the landing party, leaving him as the only one still out in the open. He rose a little over the rock he was using for cover, let off a shot at the enemy, and then hastily ran to join the rest of his crew.

Okay, keeping the initiative with 1 each Threat and Momentum. Per our conversation in Messenger, this is a Presence + Security vs. Difficulty 2, reduced to Difficulty 1 due to Cover Fire. No Talents or Focuses in play.
Treyva Presence + Security (10/2) Task, TN12, D1
Rolled 2d20 : 19, 2, total 21

Let's see what happens.

Well, I might get to use Follow My Lead after all, since I appear to have succeeded by the skin of my teeth....

Oh, wait, I need to recap the off-forum conversation so some of that makes sense to the rest of the audience.

Treyva is going to fire his weapon in the general direction of the Apellans, to distract them, and then use that distraction to take a Minor Action and retreat tp join his crew. It looks like I succeeded, but I'll wait for the GM to adjudicate.

OOC: 1 Success vs. Difficulty 1. Success!

Treyva's shot keeps heads down and gives him the opportunity to scramble back to better cover.

Meanwhile, the unarmed Apellan on the ridge runs over to where his fallen comrade lays and picks up his rifle, attempting to clear the jam.

OOC: AEW-N Control + Engineering (10/1) vs. Difficulty 2
Rolled 2d20 : 20, 15, total 35

"Course, sir?"

Davy, aka GM

OOC: Well, no Successes and a Complication to boot. The poor bugger just broke the gun.

The warrior fiddles with the weapon, watches with horror as a spring flies away from the from the casing, and then flings the now-nonfunctional rifle in the general direction of the landing party in his frustration. (Needless to say, it lands far short of his "targets.")

OOC: Okay, you folks are up. Ally and Dietrich are yet to act this round.
"Course, sir?"

"Out there...thataway."

Doug Burke

Ally takes careful aim at the failed gunsmith and squeezes off a shot.

So that's a minute action to aim and during the repeater, which I believe is a Control + Security task with difficulty 2, lowered to 1 by Covering Fire.

Ally Control (10) + Security (4) = 14 total, no focus

Since I succeeded at a Task in combat, I'm using Follow My Lead to assist Ally.
Spending 1 Determination for the use of the Talent. She gets an assist as if from my Presence + Command.

Treyva Presence + Command (10/5) assist
Rolled 1d20 : 9, total 9

All right, let's see if this pays off.
