And that smithy still needs looked at. Styles' crew straight-up shot someone in there.

Do we have reason to believe that the sentries outside were the only ones, that the crew is in there aloneish?

If you enjoy my work, why not buy me a coffee?

Davy, aka GM

OOC: No reason to believe that at all.
"Course, sir?"

"Out there...thataway."

Patrick Goodman

Didn't think so, but couldn't recall if we'd been advised differently.

Tann-Tyra drew her phaser and verified once again that it was on stun. To Styles, she whispered, "Once we open that door, we're not going to be able to be sneaky anymore if your men aren't alone, sir."

"I agree, Ensign," Styles answers. "We'll take any Apellans out quietly if we can, and with phasers if we can't. Independent fire at will is authorized at this point, but let's try not to wake the neighbors. I expect folks should be coming back from the mugato chase soon. Take the right, and we'll take the left."

The captain gestures to the entryways on the right and left buildings, one for each team.
"Course, sir?"

"Out there...thataway."

Patrick Goodman

So if I'm looking at the map right, we're all on the north side, and I've got the building on the east. Correct?

OOC: Here's the map with updated locations.

So, as you're on the north side of the two buildings, he's gesturing for you to take the west-side building (directly in front of you) and he'll take the east-side building.
"Course, sir?"

"Out there...thataway."

Patrick Goodman

That's what I meant, but I was being distracted by my teenage daughter laughing at her French lesson in Duolingo. She finds the oddest things amusing....

Tann-Tyra nodded in response, then motioned for her team to assemble by the entry into the building. She quickly scanned the entry to see if there was anyone immediately on the other side of the door.

Pre-rolling to save time, assuming Reason + Science (though a case could be made for Security)
Tann-Tyra scanning Task
Reason + Science (7/2), TN9
Rolled 2d20 : 3, 10, total 13

No whammies....

Typoed her Science, which is only a 1, but still got one success.

OOC: 1 Success vs. Difficulty 1. Success.

Her team positioned to cover her, Tann-Tyra sees no lifeforms within 2 meters of the door.

At the other building, Styles and his team are poised to breach their door.
"Course, sir?"

"Out there...thataway."

Now that we're indoors, would it be possible to scan the rest of the building for our equipment, you know, power cells, unusual materials, etc.?
"Plus who is going to be consoling Sorak there?"

"The commander raises a valid concern," Sorak replied with his usual aplomb, "As you can see, I am beside myself with worry."

Patrick Goodman

Opening the door as quietly as possible, Tann-Tyra led her team inside.

OOC: I'm going to go and check that out

As Ally completes her scan, Cole motions her to one side.

"There's something nagging at me, Ally", he says. "When we split up, I'm sure I saw what looked like the flash of a phaser from one of the Smithys. If it was Styles and his team, he's not telling us about it which has me worried. I'm going to backtrack and check it out. Keep looking for our gear, and i'll be back in a few minutes."

Without waiting for a response, Cole heads back out the door.

"Crewman, with me." He gestures for one of the enlisted security men to follow.

Davy, aka GM

OOC: Doug, yes, I would say that being in closer proximity to the rooms above would give you folks an opportunity to scan for non-native materials within.

Reason + Science vs. Difficulty 1. Tricorder is facilitating the task, so it doesn't provide an Advantage.
"Course, sir?"

"Out there...thataway."

The crewman follows Cole out the storage room, and they see Tann-Tyra's team enter the building to the south. The pair skulk northward to the smithy as they start to hear distant sounds of conversation to the northwest (in the direction of the village gate). They're still a ways away, though, and Cole is confident the pair could get inside the smithy before anyone gets near them.

The door to the smithy is closed, but unlocked and unbarred.
"Course, sir?"

"Out there...thataway."
