OOC: Acknowledging 1 Momentum spent to Obtain Information.

Current
Momentum 4 (1 pending, Voshen)
Threat 5

Looking at the evidence in front of him, Voshen quickly reverses his thinking. The standard Starfleet communicator can reach geosynchronous orbit from a world's surface, and it's not much bigger than the device he's holding. It's quite likely this device is easily capable of interacting with Vulcan's transporter network (which is meant to be easily accessible).

However, that does bring another question in mind, regarding its size and sparse controls; how does it know where to go?
"Course, sir?"

"Out there...thataway."

I think that's exactly the next Obtain Information with the final pending Momentum:

"With only two buttons, how does it know where to go?"

Treyva approached Tobin as he finished speaking with T'Kiri. "How is Mr. Spunkmeyer?"

OOC: Happy to use my pending bonus question to resolve this one if that's permissible?

Chev ch'Valk

Watching the more experienced crew is a learning experience for the Andorian ensign, one he is taking full advantage of. With no set task before him, Chev is content to observe (OOC: Playing off that "Shuns the Limelight" Value).

Still, he wishes to remain active on the scene, so he keeps his phaser trained on the team's captured suspect (OOC: Playing off that "Never Trust a Vulcan" Value).

"Lt. Voshen and I managed to stem the bleeding, so he's out of immediate danger, sir," Tobin responds, his tone even and professional. "But he needs a doctor. Hopefully T'Laang has sufficient facilities on-site."

Quote from: Davy, aka GM on August 08, 2024, 10:18:24 AMCole finds a microscopic speck of blood lodged into one of the preserved nicks, covered by a streak of mineral oil. The tricorder says it's several hours old and doesn't belong to Spunkmeyer.

Forgot to mention that Cole will obviously store this information to be examined later.

Davy, aka GM

OOC: Since I haven't accounted for Cole's Obtain Information, yet, and the second question seems to be popular, we'll spend the remaining pending Momentum from Voshen's task on it.

The device has a small onboard computer with a relatively standard Federation firmware often used in the Tellarite sphere (which would make sense, given its creator). It appears to be designed to receive a configuration/command instruction set/or the like from a computer or padd...even one like what Cole and Tobin found in Kavoran's cell.

As the small device reveals its secrets to Cole and Voshen, Nahwoor returns with T'Laang, an old-style folded stretcher in hand. She quickly unfurls it and recruits the second-master and Drake to shift Spunkmeyer over, then instructs them to follow her with the patient. The trio are gone moments later.

OOC: What next, gents?
"Course, sir?"

"Out there...thataway."

socrates200X

"Our villain's method of egress." Voshen held up the small device towards Security Chief Cole after scanning it with his tricorder.  "Too miniature to house a full transporter signal.  He most likely paired it with a nearby console with more detailed instructions."  He ticked his vocoder wryly.  "Not very ascetic..."
-- RG

Nolmir

Tobin watches the Vulcan healer depart with Spunkmeyer, then joins the other crewmembers. He raises his eyebrows upon hearing Voshen's explanation. "A console? Perhaps the padd Lt. Cole and I found in Kavoran's chamber?"

Renny

Cole nods briskly.

"We should secure the PADD and bring it together with this device and see if we can prove that this is how he was doing it."

Davy, aka GM

As Cole speaks, the group notices Kavoran is beginning to regain consciousness. The monk seems aware that he's bound, and, other than subtle movements seemingly to confirm his confinement, makes no attempts to change his position.

T'Kiri, having descended the stairs after Spunkmeyer was removed, offers, "I will guard the prisoner while you confirm your suspicions; it will also give me the opportunity to arrest our suspect for his attempted murder of your man."

OOC: Okay, who is doing what?
"Course, sir?"

"Out there...thataway."

Renny

Cole's eyes swivel to fall upon Kavoran coldly. He moves across to the Vulcan and grasps the bindings, making sure they are secure. He nods to the young Andorian guarding him.

"Chev, remain with the Investigator and assist if needed."

He looks to Tobin. "Sir, we should retrieve the PADD as soon as possible."

Nolmir

Tobin nods. "Agreed, Lieutenant. I'll be very interested to take another look at it."

socrates200X

The analysis of the PADD handed off to Cole and Tobin, Lt. Voshen approached the captain, eyeing the bound Vulcan.

"Permission to accompany Mr. Spunkmeyer?  I don't put much stock in my interrogative skills.  But I have taken extension courses in first aid.  And I could make an emergency return to the Drake, if needed."
