Treyva shook his head to clear it. "I don't think I've read that much at one sitting since I was an undergrad," he said. "I wonder how the others are doing." He reached over and keyed the comm panel. "Treyva to Sorak."

OOC: This can, of course, wait until Sorak asks about those robes....

Tobin grimaces as the two officers exit the gate. "I must admit I hoped this visit would have been more fruitful." He pauses a beat, his expression becoming thoughtful before he continues. "Still, we haven't been able to rule out Kavoran or his blade. Lieutenant, do you think we could get access to Vulcan transport records? If, hypothetically speaking, Kavoran had traveled to commit these murders, I would think there should be some record of it."

Doug Burke

Quote"Kavoran, you said his name was? I do not recognize it, nor did I recognize the color scheme of his academic robes."

Sorak holds up a finger, "Is it not possible that Kavoran's robes were monastic, rather than academic? Many adepts could provide such a skilled debate, could they not?"
"Plus who is going to be consoling Sorak there?"

"The commander raises a valid concern," Sorak replied with his usual aplomb, "As you can see, I am beside myself with worry."

"Had you not raised the possibility, Mr. Sorak, I would never have considered him an ascetic," Sanak admits. "But, one is not born a mystic, is one?"

"No, professor," T'Kiri agrees.

The elder Vulcan nods and turns to his terminal. "Do you know which institute he attended?"

"We do. Shakan-Geros Academy; he achieved 'Three-with-Merit'* in anthropology there."

* Making up something for Vulcan academic degrees. Figured they'd have something other than BS, MS, etc.

Sanak orders his computer to display the academic dress of an anthropology graduate from Shakan-Geros Academy. A moment later he says, "These are the robes I observed," as he turns the display for his former students to see. The color scheme matches what Kavoran was seen wearing on the playback image of the debate.

The professor is about to continue when Sorak's communicator beeps.

OOC: Okay, Treyva & Sorak. You're up.
"Course, sir?"

"Out there...thataway."

"I agree, sir," Cole responded briskly, "I'd hoped for something more definitive. I'm sure we can get access to transport records, although we will have to go through channels, so it will take some time."

Tobin nods. "Perhaps T'Kiri can help move that request along." The Trill flips open his communicator and contacts her. When she answers, he replies, "I believe Lt. Cole and I may have a lead on our killer -- a monk by the name of Kavoran. We're hoping you can help us get access to Vulcan transportation records to check on his movements."

Almost simultaneously with Sorak's communicator, T'Kiri's V'Kor communicator chirps. With a glance at both men to excuse herself, she steps into the hallway and answers, "T'Kiri here."

QuoteWhen she answers, he replies, "I believe Lt. Cole and I may have a lead on our killer -- a monk by the name of Kavoran. We're hoping you can help us get access to Vulcan transportation records to check on his movements."

The investigator's eyebrow shoots up. "Sorak and I are currently interviewing a witness who interacted with Kavoran prior to the first murder," she answers. "Access to transport records has more stringent requirements. I will need from you a precisely-worded statement in support of my request. Be as comprehensive as you are able.

"What in your inquiries makes you believe Kavoran should be the primary person of interest?"
"Course, sir?"

"Out there...thataway."

Doug Burke

"Forgive me, Professor, it is my Captain," Sorak explains as he retrieves his communicator and flips it open, "Sorak here, sir."

Before Treyva can respond, T'Kiri's communicator also beeps for attention.
"Plus who is going to be consoling Sorak there?"

"The commander raises a valid concern," Sorak replied with his usual aplomb, "As you can see, I am beside myself with worry."

Nolmir

"I'm afraid the evidence is circumstantial at this point, but not insignificant, in my view," Tobin replies. "He is the guardian and caretaker of a weapon matching the one used in the killings; all other known examples of this style of weapon appear to be on public display or otherwise accounted for. The blade also shows signs of recent repair that could be correlated to damage from use. Additionally, he suffered an injury -- attributed by him to an accident while making repairs -- that matches the timeframe of the killings and could be connected."

Davy, aka GM

"That may suffice," T'Kiri responds. "Please provide a report of your findings, and I will submit them with the request once Sorak and I return."

OOC: Okay, this will be a Presence + Security task vs. Difficulty 2. Either Tobin or Cole can attempt the task, and the other will assist with Presence + Conn. The task will have to be performed at a terminal with access to the ship.
"Course, sir?"

"Out there...thataway."

Renny

OOC: Ok it looks like I have a better chance at succeeding here as my Presence + Security is 13 vs Tobin's 10. I guess we could just beam back up at this point as the direction of our investigation would seem to depend on us getting access to those records at this point? I'll go ahead and roll for my bit anyway.
