Tobin and Cole head upstairs to retrieve the padd, with Voshen accompanying them on his way to the infirmary. Second-master Nahwoor is still in the infirmary with Drake, and agrees to reopen Kavoran's cell. Meanwhile T'Laang accepts the navigator's offer of assistance.

OOC: Control + Medicine assist roll (1d20) for Voshen, please.
T'Laang Control + Medicine 13 vs. Difficulty 2
Rolled 2d20 : 20, 13, total 33

The padd is right where the security officer returned it, and it is still showing the Vulcan script they earlier translated as guidelines for repair of nicks and such on a blade.

OOC: Okay, gents, how do you want to go about this? The second-master is still with you.

Back down in the workshop, Treyva, Chev, and T'Kiri keep an eye on the prisoner, who continues to slowly rise out of his phaser-induced unconsciousness.

OOC: Chev want to do/say anything?
"Course, sir?"

"Out there...thataway."

Tobin picks up the padd and examines it to see if it is capable of interfacing with the global transporter network.

Treyva stood quietly by T'Kiri, watching their suspect wake up. After a few moments, he said, a little more loudly than simply speaking to the V'Kor agent would require, "One wonders what the logic of such brutal killings might be."

The Andorian ensign looks down at the prisoner, cocking his head slightly to one side before saying in Vulcan, "I too wonder what logic drove you to this action. I am not being facetious, I truly do wonder. I have never known a Vulcan to act out of haste, or impulse, or passion, so surely there must be a reason for your actions. Is it a good one?"

OOC: 1 Success from T'Laang, and one from Voshen gives us 2 Successes vs. Difficulty 2. Success, plus 1 Complication generated.

Since T'Laang is a GM character, she generates Threat and not Momentum, instead of spending Momentum to cancel the Complication, she will spend Threat. (I'm happy to have you folks burn through Momentum, but thems the rules. ;) )

Momentum 4
Threat 3

With the Zaranite's assistance, T'Laang is able to repair much of the damage. Her medical suite is surprisingly modern for an ancient monastery, but Voshen is glad they're not operating with blades and pincers.

Meanwhile, Kavoran continues to slowly regain consciousness. T'Kiri raises an eyebrow at the officers' elicitation of an answer. The monk mumbles something incoherent, then, after a pause adds...or repeats, the others can't be sure, "...defend....the faith..."

The V'Kor investigator clears her throat politely and notes, "Please be aware that we can make use of nothing the suspect says while he is in this state, nor can we make use of anything he says before he has been cautioned of his rights as a suspect."

"...know....not well...must prot...tuJurok...," Kavoran stammers.

In the suspect's cell, Tobin and Cole inspect the data padd.

OOC: Let's go with a Reason + Security task vs. Difficulty 2. Either Computers or Hacking focus will be allowed.
"Course, sir?"

"Out there...thataway."

OOC: The player misread how close to conscious he was, but that's not unusual for the last couple days....

Treyva nodded. "Of course. Forgive me; I'm apparently more anxious for this to be over than I thought." Turning to the young Andorian, he said, "Give him some space, Ensign."

OOC: The GM may also not have been clear enough about Kavoran's state. He's kinda aware at this point, but not fully coherent. I was trying to go for Dr. Crater's state after he was stunned by Kirk in "The Man Trap."

And, Renny, go ahead and make an assist. Doing so, even just to generate Momentum, is always encouraged.
"Course, sir?"

"Out there...thataway."

OOC: OK good shout let's have a go

Reason (8) + Security (5) test

Kavoran's Cell
The first time, the science officer used the tricorder to scan the Vulcan script on the page - neither man realized that it could be something other than what it seemed.

Now, however, they scanned the program itself, and found something else embedded within the maintenance instruction file - a hidden executable. Simultaneously pressing the top left and bottom right corners of the display opens up another program - one that clearly programs the fob, complete with a highly-detailed, interactive map of Vulcan with lots and lots of data. Tobin's somewhat surprised the data padd can hold all of that information within it.

The nature of the file is quite clear, and a sequence of sites are listed - a shopping district in ShiKahr, followed by the Spalan estate, followed by N'Varas' apartment complex, followed by the Northwestern Shival Overland Center (on the opposite end of the Shival Flats from the monastery), followed by the monastery itself - in particular, an area behind the main sanctuary.

Below the list of destinations, program text notes the "itinerary" on the device matches the program (and an indicator shows that it is "in range").

Smithy and Training Area
Kavoran seems to fully wake with a start, briefly straining against the manacles (and his Vulcan strength appearing to strain them a bit, too) before relaxing his body. T'Kiri levels her phaser at him.

"Do not move," she intones. "Kavoran, son of Satrik, are you aware of your surroundings?"

The ascetic turns his head slightly. Even in the dim light, Treyva and Chev can see real anger in his eyes; when he answers, his tone is level, but not at all dispassionate. "I am on the floor of my workshop, bound at the wrists."

"Do you understand why you are bound?"

"I defended myself and my sanctuary from intruders - from those who wish to destroy tuJarok."

T'Kiri raises an eyebrow. "Kavoran, son of Satrik, I charge you with the attempted murder of Specialist Spunkmeyer of Starfleet. Know your rights as an individual accused..." she then continues with the mandatory caution regarding Rights of the Accused on Vulcan, before looking to the Starfleet officers. "You may ask questions, but know that, unless he waives his rights, his answers cannot be used in judgment against him."
"Course, sir?"

"Out there...thataway."
