OOC: I can't see in my last few posts that I specified Cole has his weapon out so given our close proximity I'll go with Cole taking the Draw Minor action to pull his phaser and then attack with the phaser. Obviously set on stun.

Cole takes advantage of Kavoran's momentary pause, and with practised efficiency, draws his hand phaser and shoots, wishing to neutralise the threat as efficiently as possible.

OOC: Control (9) + Security (5) vs Difficulty 2. Hand Phaser focus applied. I guess it's GM's call as to whether Cole suffers an extra 1 Difficulty for an enemy within Reach, depending on Kavoran's state of readiness at this point.

Rolled 2d20 : 3, 11, total 14

Renny

OOC: That looks like 3 successes to me, given the Hand Phaser focus so I guess the extra Difficulty won't matter.

Damage for Hand Phaser

Phaser Type-2 (Ranged, 8CD, Size 1H, Charge)

Rolled 8d6 : 5, 5, 2, 3, 2, 4, 5, 4, total 30

Renny

OOC: So for damage, I think we have 9 damage, 5 effects. Obviously didn't use the Prepare Minor Action so the Charge Quality doesn't come into play here.

Quote from: Davy, aka GM on July 24, 2024, 02:43:12 PMOOC: A Move Minor action allows you to move anywhere in Medium Range (1 Zone); however, you can instead take the Sprint action, which requires a Fitness + Security task vs. Difficulty 0. If successful, you move 1 Zone, and can spend Momentum to move additional Zones (1 Momentum per additional Zone). So, a Success and spending 1 Momentum will have Chev catch up with the rest of his team.

OOC: Got it. Well then...

Chev sprints down the corridor, looking to catch up with the rest of the team and offer any assistance he can.

OOC: Fitness 10 + Security 4 with a Difficulty of 0

Rolled 2d20 : 8, 12, total 20

"The sky is a neighborhood." -- Foo Fighters

Davy, aka GM

OOC: That's 2 Successes vs. Difficulty 0. Success, plus 2 Momentum generated! 1 will be spent to reach the rest of his team. Bank the other?

Current
Momentum 1 (1 pending, Chev)
Threat 5

The sounds of fighting filter down the corridor, and Chev responds by quickly rejoining his team.

On the other side of the chamber, the security officer draws his phaser and blasts the weapon master before the latter can recover.

OOC: Kavoran is very much in reach and, while unarmed, is still quite capable of acting in combat. So, yes, an opponent within Reach applies. Difficulty 3.

3 Successes vs. Difficulty 3. Success!

Based on Treyva's orders of pre-setting the phasers to Heavy Stun, I've decided that Heavy Stun means the phaser is in non-lethal mode, with the Intense charge set.

I see 7 damage + 3 effects. (The 3s and 4s are all worth 0.) So, Kavoran will take 7 Stress and would have to spend 5 Threat Avoid a Knockout...had he not already used his Avoid a Knockout this round. Kavoran is unconscious.

The room lights up briefly as Kavoran slumps to the ground, stunned. Nahwoor attempts to descend the stairs to attend his brother, but T'Kiri gently intercedes with a warning that the space is now a crime scene and leads him back through the reliquary.

OOC: We're out of combat, thanks to the security chief knowing his job. Vulcans are tough, but even a Vulcan will be out for a bit under heavy stun. What do you folks want to do?

Oh, remember, Spunkmeyer is on the floor, just on the other side of the wall from Cole.
"Course, sir?"

"Out there...thataway."

Nolmir

Tobin takes the last few steps down the staircase and glances around the room for any remaining threats. "Well done, Mr. Cole. I'm glad you were between me and him," he says, flashing a grin before quickly sobering. "You secure our friend here. I'll see to Mr. Spunkmeyer."

Hurrying over to the fallen security officer, Tobin kneels and surveys his condition.

Davy, aka GM

OOC: I need a Control + Security task from Tobin at Difficulty 1, +1 Difficulty for darkness, and an additional +1 Difficulty for an unknown environmental effect, for a total Difficulty 3.
"Course, sir?"

"Out there...thataway."

Voshen's felt his pupils constrict as another phaser blast illuminated the dark room.  As the dimness returned, he spotted Lt. Cmdr. Les kneeling over to inspect an unmoving officer in what must have been near-darkness for the others in the crew.

Rushing over to kneel by Les, Voshen proffered, "Allow me.  'Many eyes make lights work' is the saying, yes?"

OOC: Voshen moves into the room and Assists Tobin's roll.

Cole takes a moment to recover, keeping his weapon trained on the fallen Vulcan and checking to make sure he is stunned, and not faking. He turns to Les as he is checking on Spunkmeyer.

"Sir, with your permission i'd like to have the suspect transported to the Drake and placed in a holding cell while we investigate further. I think his attack on Mr Spunkmeyer gives us grounds to detain, at least. We'll also have the weapon beamed up for forensic analysis."

Patrick Goodman

"I don't think that sandstorm has had a chance to dissipate yet, Mr. Cole," Treyva said. "Find another means to restrain him until we can get him to the shuttle, then perform a forensic scan and catalog the evidence."

He turned towards where Les and Voshen were tending to Spunkmeyer. Over his shoulder, he added, "Nice work, Mr. Cole."

OOC: Oof, that's gonna be tough. I'm going to invoke Tobin's Value "A ship's crew is stronger together" for a Perfect Opportunity. With Former Initiate, that'll allow me to re-roll the dice pool if needed.

Control 10 + Security 1 vs. Difficulty 3
Rolled 2d20 : 17, 6, total 23

Nolmir

OOC: With the Perfect Opportunity, I count three successes. Woohoo!

"Thank you sir," Cole replies and looks around for something to tie up the unconscious Vulcan with. He makes a mental not to secure the weapon once Kavoran is restrained.
