OOC: Ship's assist: Computers 7 + Engineering 3
Rolled 1d20 : 12, total 12

Nolmir

OOC: Looks like we have enough successes already, but we could use more Momentum, so I'll roll an assist for Tobin too.

Reason 11 + Engineering 3
Rolled 1d20 : 5, total 5

Doug Burke

#273
Looks like that brings up to 6 successes total for that Task. I agree with something Patrick said. We should use 2 Momentum to counter the Limited Personal Data complication.
"Plus who is going to be consoling Sorak there?"

"The commander raises a valid concern," Sorak replied with his usual aplomb, "As you can see, I am beside myself with worry."

#274
OOC: First gate results.

Asha achieved 2 Successes. Treyva achieved 1. Sorak achieved 2. Tobin achieved 1. The ship was no help. A total of 6 Successes vs. Difficulty 3. Success, plus 3 Momentum generated.

Do you folks wish to spend any of that Momentum before the attempting the second gate task? Acknowledging spending 2 Momentum to remove the Limited Data Complication, and banking the third.

Onto the second gate. Asha's Insight + Science (10/4) vs. Difficulty 2, increased to Difficulty 3 (Limited Personal Data Complication), to perform the analysis. Again, any Main Character may assist with Insight + Science, and the ship will assist with Computers + Science. Again, Asha's Statistics focus will apply. Because the ship is assisting with Computers again, Sorak's Computers focus will again apply.

Current
Momentum 2
Threat 10
Limited Personal Data Complication (when analyzing victim background information & public records)
"Course, sir?"

"Out there...thataway."

Patrick Goodman

Can we use 2 Momentum to buy off Limited Personal Data? Drop it to D2 that way?

Davy, aka GM

OOC: Absolutely. And within the narrative, it will be explained by the task force finally getting access to various public records they need to more accurately search for connections between the victims.
"Course, sir?"

"Out there...thataway."

Patrick Goodman

Then let's do that and bank the 3rd. I'll get the rolls up for the second gate shortly.

Asha Gated Task part 2. Insight + Science (10/4), D2. Statistics Focus applies.
Rolled 2d20 : 11, 8, total 19

Treyva assist, Insight + Science (9/5)
Rolled 1d20 : 8, total 8

Let's see how this one works out.

Sorak Assist:
Insight (8) + Science (4) = 12 total, with Computers focus

Rolled 1d20 : 7, total 7

:fingers crossed:
"Plus who is going to be consoling Sorak there?"

"The commander raises a valid concern," Sorak replied with his usual aplomb, "As you can see, I am beside myself with worry."

Nolmir

Ship's assist: Computers 7 + Science 2
Rolled 2d20 : 15, 3, total 18

Tobin's assist: Insight 9 + Science 5
Rolled 1d20 : 10, total 10

Nolmir

Gah, accidentally rolled 2d20 for the ship. Oh well, I think we've got enough successes even just counting the 15.

Davy, aka GM

OOC: Second gate. Asha achieves 2 successes. Treyva achieves 1. Sorak achieves 1. Tobin achieves 1, and the ship provides no help. Total of 5 Successes vs. Difficulty 2. Success, plus 3 Momentum generated!

Gated Challenge Narrative
Asha, Treyva, Sorak, and Tobin gather in the computer lab, where she installs her database analysis and the quartet spends the next couple of hours building the search functions, based on the parameters set by Lt. Cole. The work progresses smoothly.

They pause twice, first when Ayhan comes aboard with the GolanKorsta collapse report, and again when T'Ara arrives with the initial complaint for the Sas-a-Shar eremology station and updates from the V'kor investigation.

The research team's investigation found that the mine section collapse was likely "natural," in that there was no evidence of deliberate disruption of the structure. Based on the pattern of the collapse, the researchers believe activity in the chamber itself may have led to the rockfall. Ayhan adds that logic would dictate the violence of the attack could have been responsible for triggering it.

The eremology station complainant stated he was conducting a scan of the area for his own personal research* when he discovered the anomalous reading. He "felt obliged" to report the anomaly "immediately," to ensure a quick resolution. T'Ara states voice analysis could not determine the complainant's identity, although it did determine his accent places him as a native or long-time resident of V'tel Ak'tur Province.

It takes a few hours for the program to finish its work, and it comes back with only one data point that matches more than two individuals. The priest Karatek, the economist T'Loris, and the eremologist Verrin all had in their itineraries a return trip from a conference called "Logic in Science, Administration, and Service: Surakian Values in a Professional Life." The return dates for each were either the day of or the day after the Drake's arrival over Vulcan.

* On a world where scarcity is, for all intents and purposes, wiped out, many Vulcans pursue hobbies that would almost resemble what we could today call a "second job."

OOC: Based on the above information, do you want to spend any Momentum?

Current
Momentum 2 (3 pending, Asha)

"Course, sir?"

"Out there...thataway."

Patrick Goodman

Do we want to spend some Momentum, guys? I can think of one question off the top of my head, but before I go flapping my gums....
