The landing party sees no indication of any kind of foot traffic around the escape pods, and, given the dry conditions, that can be expected; dry ground and low grasses don't tend to hold footprints for long. In fact, it would be difficult to tell if there has been any foot traffic before today.

OOC: If you truly wish to attempt it, checking for such tracks will be an Insight + Security task vs. Difficulty 3, and the tricorders won't be any help (this is a visual inspection of the foliage).

The Hindi's voice is somewhat distorted by a breeze that picks up in his location. "Lots of dry grassland and hills. I don't see any hunting parties of any kind, and certainly no signs of the Rostov's crew, but I have sight of the hill that's supposed to host those humanoid life signs. It looks like it has a decent plateau at the summit."
"Course, sir?"

"Out there...thataway."

Patrick Goodman

Tann-Tyra looked at Ally, then motioned to Dhall's position. "Let's go see if we can spot some batteries," she said, walking purposefully towards the ridge.

Ally smiled a bit nervously, and nodded, "Aye, sir. Let's."
"Plus who is going to be consoling Sorak there?"

"The commander raises a valid concern," Sorak replied with his usual aplomb, "As you can see, I am beside myself with worry."

The pair make their way up to Chief Dhall, who gives them a nod. He says, "It looks like there's a path that winds down the hill just a ways up. We can take that when the lieutenant's ready."

OOC: Reason + Science vs. Difficulty 1. (Tricorder doesn't provide an Advantage, since it's the only way you can see any batteries from this distance.)

Who's driving and who's assisting?
"Course, sir?"

"Out there...thataway."

Patrick Goodman

Reason 7, Science . Ally can drive, I'll assist.

Tann-Tyra Assist Task, Reason 7 + Science 1, TN8

OOC: Eh, I'll pass. It was just a passing thought anyway.

Lear follows the others to the top of the hill, looking in the direction of the hill Dhall points out.

The vista is actually quite beautiful, like the rolling hills of the central valley of California, where most security cadets and trainees learned orienteering and wilderness survival. The grass covering was mostly a light green or pale golden color, interrupted by occasional outcroppings of beige-colored rock formations. Given the distance and hilly terrain, the group surmises it'll take about 1.5 to 2 hours to reach the summit pointed out by Chief Dhall.

OOC: 2 Successes vs. Difficulty 1. Success, plus 1 Momentum generated. Spend or bank?

Current
Momentum 5 (1 pending, Ally)
Threat 10

Ally and Tann-Tyra scan their target location, and easily find a small battery network; in fact, they seem to be connected together and attached to some sort of makeshift photovoltaic system. An emergency solar power array from one or more of the escape pod survival kits, maybe?
"Course, sir?"

"Out there...thataway."

Patrick Goodman

"Looks like someone was paying attention in survival classes," Tann-Tyra quipped.

OOC: What can we see from the summit?

Davy, aka GM

OOC: I was going to do a description, but I figured a picture of what it looks like would be better. The red dot represents the summit where the batteries and concentration of humans were detected.
"Course, sir?"

"Out there...thataway."

Renny

OK so I guess if no-one has any objections we'll proceed ahead in a line and make for the adjacent summit so we can hopefully observe the settlement before making contact?

I'm good to move on, and Patrick has a point. You're the ranking officer...
