Sorak nodded in response, "Thank you, Commander. Excellent work." Closing the comm channel, the Vulcan turned o the science station, "Full scan of the coordinates provided by Mr. Tobin, using the ne algorithms we have developed. I want to confirm that there is, indeed, a cloaked ship there as soon as possible." Turning back to the screen and its view of the plant, he called out, "Maintain yellow alert, charge shield generators and phaser banks."
"Plus who is going to be consoling Sorak there?"

"The commander raises a valid concern," Sorak replied with his usual aplomb, "As you can see, I am beside myself with worry."

Styles looks around and spots Pelel, calling him over to join them. "Let's get the other hunters armed with the new guns. Start with the most senior and best skilled hunting parties, and work your way down based on experience and skill. We should be able to get another three dozen of your hunting parties outfitted if we work quickly."

Pelel nods and heads off to gather the warriors, and Styles turns his attention to his fellow captain. Grabbing a nearby stick, he draws a quick map in the dirt between them.

"Here's the camp," he says, scrawling in a design that looks like a rounded swoosh. "Thankfully, there are no overlooks around it, so the Apellans will have to come uphill the entire way."

The captain emphasizes his point by drawing X's at various points around the front perimeter of the camp. Using a foot to wipe them away, Styles then numbers five different positions at increasingly distant positions staggered out from the front of the camp.

"Pelel's five hunting parties can go out ahead immediately. Ambush the Apellan squads on the edges, firing from cover, moving, and striking again while the Apellans reload. Take them down, and move to the next squad in," he offers. "Meanwhile, we take as many hunting parties as we can and spread out, again trying to force them to tighten their formations. Our mobility will be our advantage; if we move and strike, move and strike, we should be able to minimize our casualties.

"The rest of the hunters will then use the heavy cover around the camp for defensive positions. If we've done our jobs, they'll have to come down the middle, where we can hit them from multiple sides.

"What do you think?"
"Course, sir?"

"Out there...thataway."

Lt. j.g. York turns in his chair at the science console. "Full scan, aye, sir," he says and sets to work.

"Aye, Commander, charging shield generators," Mr. Fryling acknowledges from the weapons station. Similarly, Petty Officer Mattin adds from phaser control, "Charging phaser banks, sir."

OOC: Lt. j.g. York Reason + Science (11/4) vs. Difficulty 1. The scout's Cloaked Trait increases the Difficulty to 2, and the Educated Guess Advantage reduces it again to 1.

OOC: Mistakenly had the helmsman charge phaser banks when it should've been the phaser control station. Couldn't let that stand.

Rolls are still correct, though. And, I forgot that Advanced Sensor Suites reduce Difficulty, so the Difficulty is now 0.

York achieves 1 Success vs. Difficulty 0. Success, plus 1 Momentum generated! The Momentum must be spent or lost. Doug & Nolmir, please decide how the Momentum is spent.

"Mr. Sorak, it's there," Jacob states after about a minute of study. "Cloaked and nicely tucked into that clearing, but it's there. B'Rel, based on the power signature. If I'm reading the growth around it correctly, she's been there for a few months."
"Course, sir?"

"Out there...thataway."

If it's okay with Nolmir, I'd like to use it for Gather Information. Specifically how many life signs are on or near it, if we can. 😀
"Plus who is going to be consoling Sorak there?"

"The commander raises a valid concern," Sorak replied with his usual aplomb, "As you can see, I am beside myself with worry."

Nolmir

OOC: Yep, sounds good to me!

Davy, aka GM

OOC: Spending 1 Momentum to Obtain Information, aye.

The young science officer pauses a moment, his face lit up by the sensor hood, and adds, "I'm getting life signs within the scout, Commander, although the ship's cloak is interfering with an accurate count. Best I can say is somewhere between four and eight, likely Klingon."
"Course, sir?"

"Out there...thataway."

"Well done, Lieutenant. Continue monitoring the Klingon ship," Sorak acknowledged. "Mr. Costaluna, connect me with the Captain, please."

Planetside, Treyva's communicator buzzes.

Treyva slipped away from the commotion and found a private alcove. "Treyva here."

"Commander Sorak, the captain is on the line," Miguel states.
"Course, sir?"

"Out there...thataway."

Doug Burke

"Sorak here, Captain," the Vulcan replied. "We have succeeded in locating the cloaked Klingon vessel. B'rel class, apparently in place for approximately two months based on local plant growth. Our sensors have detected between 4 and 8 life signs aboard, which suggests, given the average complement of such a vessel, a like number of Klingons advising the Apellans. Forwarding the message we traced and the ship's coordinates to your tricorder now."
"Plus who is going to be consoling Sorak there?"

"The commander raises a valid concern," Sorak replied with his usual aplomb, "As you can see, I am beside myself with worry."

Patrick Goodman

"Excellent work," the captain replied. "We're preparing to move on Apellan positions." He briefly apprised the Vulcan of the situation on the ground. "Continue to monitor from there, and let us know if anything appreciable changes. Treyva out."

He ducked out of the alcove to find Styles and Cole.

As above, so below. Looks like we're as set as we're going to be for now. :)
