Spend 2 of Treyva's 3 on that Advantage,
bank the other.

Not only does Tobin have the Studious talent,  he has the role of Science Officer. Both offer bonus Momentum only usable for Obtain Information. He can get quite a bit of information when he's on duty....

I'm going to spend my 1 Momentum to boost production to 180. My people can handle it.
"Plus who is going to be consoling Sorak there?"

"The commander raises a valid concern," Sorak replied with his usual aplomb, "As you can see, I am beside myself with worry."

Renny

OOC: Much as he'd like to speed up training, Cole wants to get it right. It would seem wiser to get the weapons in the hands of the tribe and I don't really want to add more Threat to your pool :-)

OOC: That's a good point! He gets a bonus Momentum for OI from Chief Science Officer, and also gets a bonus question from Studious. So I can essentially get two free questions ... hmm ...

Nothing better is occurring to me at the moment, so I'll ask the two questions you suggested, Davy, and then bank the point of Momentum.

OOC: Bonus Obtain Information questions:

1. How many rifled muskets are in the hands of the soldiers in camp?

Using scans of the two captured weapons as a baseline, Tobin counts approximately 650 rifled muskets out of the 850 total long arms.

2. Can the computer/analysis narrow down the attack window?

Tobin and Lt. Hodgkins work with the library computer to narrow down the potential attack window. When news of Sorak's increased production reaches them, they plug in the new numbers, and watch as the computer crunches out probabilities.

Finally, after nearly four hours of work, fine tuning the computer's results and extrapolating information from historical data, they settle on a range of 46-60 hours. The computer announces that there is a 58 percent chance the attack will come before manufacturing is complete, and a 77 percent chance that it'll come before training is complete.

Well-Oiled Machine Advantage (when a PC or supporting character assists a PC on a shipboard task)
More Aggressive Strategy Advantage (Tyreen)

I got distracted by TV time with the wife (we found a British show called "Shakespeare & Hathaway," which is a pretty cool little buddy PI dramedy), so I'll finish more after I get back from the office tomorrow.
"Course, sir?"

"Out there...thataway."

Assessments come in from Treyva's department heads in the first 16 hours of work. Sorak expects to be finished manufacturing by hour 54, and Cole will have about 200 hunters familiar with the repeaters in that time. Tobin, though, states that an attack may come as early as hour 46, and that there's better than even odds the Apellans will attack before the Tyreen can field those 200.

They may need to make a decision before the decision is made for them.

Treyva looked over the data for what felt like the fiftieth time, then snorted as he handed it over to Styles. "I don't like the way this is looking."

Styles reads the consolidated data and furrows his brows. "Well, we're going to have to make do with what we have.

"We have at least another 30 hours. That'll get us around 120 men familiarized with the guns, and we can send them out to meet the advance early, maybe even before the Apellans are prepared to fight - even striking first, if Yutan would go for that. The rest, we can set up defensively along ridges and natural barriers with their current arms," he offers. He looks at the data again and shakes his head. "What I wouldn't give to know where the Klingons are in all this."
"Course, sir?"

"Out there...thataway."

Treyva nods. "You and me both. As aggressive as they were with the Rostov, it surprises me greatly that we haven't seen any more of them since."

OOC: We've been at yellow alert this whole time, haven't we? Keeping a weather eye out for weird energy surges?

OOC: Are the rest of us present with Styles and Treyva at this point?

Davy, aka GM

OOC: Patrick, yes. Thankfully, it's only been about a full day at it.

Renny, you can be, if you want.
"Course, sir?"

"Out there...thataway."

Renny

"Sirs," Cole spoke as he studied the data projections. "We could send in a small scouting team to try and learn what the Klingons are up to. Perhaps we can avoid the need for conflict if we can understand their agenda here."

Patrick Goodman

Treyva turned to his security chief. "Go on," he said. "What did you have in mind?"

Cole was suddenly acutely aware of the eyes on him.

"Well, we use sensors to try and locate the Klingon advisors from orbit. We send in a small scouting group in local garb to try and get eyes on the Klingon contingent. Get a real sense of their plan here."

Davy, aka GM

"That'll take our eyes off the troop movements. We may miss when they're ready to attack," Styles reminds the security chief.
"Course, sir?"

"Out there...thataway."
