Renny

Cole follows Banks into the room and takes advantage of the surprise caused by her devastating attack. He moves to attack the Apellan on the left.

Davy, aka GM

OOC: Opposed Daring + Security tasks, please, vs. Difficulty 1 for Cole.

Older Apellan Fella (who is Not Apella himself) Daring + Security (8/2) vs. Difficulty 1; the old man doesn't want to get beat up, so he'll spend a Threat for Create Opportunity
Rolled 3d20 : 9, 20, 15, total 44
"Course, sir?"

"Out there...thataway."

Doug Burke

I was going on the assumption that Cole ordered Specialist Jimmy to stay downstairs watching or backs...
"Plus who is going to be consoling Sorak there?"

"The commander raises a valid concern," Sorak replied with his usual aplomb, "As you can see, I am beside myself with worry."

Davy, aka GM

OOC: That's right. Forgot that one of the guards is still downstairs.
"Course, sir?"

"Out there...thataway."

Renny

OOC: Yeah, we left one of the guards downstairs to watch our backs.

Renny

OOC: Daring (10) + Security (5) vs. Difficulty 1 with focus of hand-to-hand combat.

Rolled 2d20 : 17, 18, total 35

Renny

OOC: That roll sucked without question.

Davy, aka GM

OOC: Yeesh.

Old Apellan 1 Success vs. Difficulty 1. Success, and no Momentum generated. Complication generated.
Cole 0 Successes vs. Difficulty 1. Failure.

The Old Apellan, incredibly enough, wins the round, but also generated a Complication. I think that Complication will be called On His Heels, and will increase his Difficulty for the of the remainder of the melee.

Apellan Unarmed Strike damage 3 [CD] Knockdown
Rolled 3d6 : 4, 5, 5, total 14
"Course, sir?"

"Out there...thataway."

Davy, aka GM

#518
OOC: 2 stress and a potential knockdown. Cole may choose to add 2 Threat to the pool to avoid being knocked prone.

Does Cole drop or remain standing?

On a side note, since Cole is in this combat encounter, his Quick to Action Talent allows you folks to retain the Initiative without cost in the first round. I'm going to give you back the 2 Momentum you spent originally.

Current
Momentum 4
Threat 11

Well-Oiled Machine Advantage (when a PC or supporting character assists a PC on a shipboard task)
All Eyes Outward Complication (Apellans, when attempting to oppose the PCs' sneaking around)
On His Heels (Old Apellan in the Ox Bridge Building, for the remainder of the melee there)

Stress Taken
Apellan Soldier (Basement Guard) -9 (non-lethal), Knocked Out
Apellan Craftsman (Ox Bridge Building) -5 (non-lethal), Knocked Out

Security Guard 2 (TT) 11 6, Injured
"Course, sir?"

"Out there...thataway."

Renny

OOC: Much as I hate to do i'd probably take the two threat as it wouldn't look good for the Chief of Security to be knocked on his ass by an old guy, right? Unless anyone has strong feelings to the contrary.

OOC: Adding 2 Threat to avoid Knockdown and avoid the embarrassment.

The old man reacts out of panic more than anything else, catching the trained security officer off-guard with it's brief ferocity. Cole staggers from the wild strike, but is able to keep his feet. Of course, the old man's attack leaves him completely off-balanced and open to a counter.

The man next to Cole's target brandishes a knife - which looks more like a workman's knife than a combat weapon - and advances on the lieutenant.

OOC: Apellan "Speaking Craftsman" Security + Daring (8/1) vs. Difficulty 1. Opposed by Cole's Security + Daring vs. Difficulty 1. The Apellan is spending 1 Threat to Create Opportunity.
Rolled 3d20 : 16, 20, 16, total 52

OOC: The "Tyreens" have the Apellans scared, apparently...
"Course, sir?"

"Out there...thataway."

Renny

OOC: Who is next to act after the knife wielder?

Davy, aka GM

OOC: I haven't decided if they'll retain the initiative after this action; there are at least two more actors available to them. If you guys end up with iniative, you have a couple of security guards left to act, I think, one on each team.
