OOC: Apellan 2 Successes vs. Difficulty 1. Success, plus 1 Momentum generated.
Security Guard 2 2 Successes vs. Difficulty 1. Success, plus 1 Momentum generated.
As a tie, the acting character (the Apellan) wins, with no surplus Momentum generated.

Apellan Knife Damage 3[CD] Vicious 1, Deadly
Rolled 3d6 : 2, 5, 1, total 8
"Course, sir?"

"Out there...thataway."

Davy, aka GM

OOC: 4 Damage, plus 1 Effect. Vicious 1 increases this to 5 Damage total.

With 0 Resistance, 5 Damage gets through for an Injury.

The Apellan, moving quickly, makes a cutting motion across the body that opens the security guard's midsection. He winces in pain and falls back against the wall before collapsing to the ground.

OOC: Okay, Security Guard 2 is down from an injury. The Apellans aren't going to Seize the Initiative, so it's back to you folks. Ally & Cole have yet to act. Doug, do you want to do something in your scene?

Current
Momentum 4
Threat 11

Well-Oiled Machine Advantage (when a PC or supporting character assists a PC on a shipboard task)
All Eyes Outward Complication (Apellans, when attempting to oppose the PCs' sneaking around)

Stress Taken
Apellan Soldier (Basement Guard) -9 (non-lethal), Knocked Out

Security Guard 2 (TT) 11 6, Injured
"Course, sir?"

"Out there...thataway."

Doug Burke

Ally gestures for Cole ave the other specialist to proceed on their way, another gesture showing lead time of a three count. She slowly and silently counts to three before moving up to the visible Apellan and pistol whips him with her phaser, hoping for a quick and quiet takedown.

Do you want me to use Control or Daring for the Task, Davy? Going to spend 1 Momentum for Create Opportunity, either way.

Ally attack action: Control or Daring (10/8) + Security (4) for total of 14/12.
Rolled 3d20 : 11, 10, 6, total 27

Fingers crossed...
"Plus who is going to be consoling Sorak there?"

"The commander raises a valid concern," Sorak replied with his usual aplomb, "As you can see, I am beside myself with worry."

OOC: Before we go forward, I want to remind you that Ally earlier (Reply 446) detected three people in the room she's now about to enter. So, there may be one additional person in the room besides the one she can see and the one she heard talking.

And, is Ally looking to creep forward, knowing that the other people in the room may be looking in the direction of her target? I just want to make sure I have a good understanding of her action.

"Course, sir?"

"Out there...thataway."

Doug Burke

I figured they'd be facing each other, which is why I was trying to coordinate the attack with Cole and the other specialist as they attacked the other two. My plan was All-out jumps out and attacks guy ahead, we keep the initiative until Steve and Randy (our resident redshirt) have each attacked their target, to simulate a simultaneous attack on all three.

I should have been clearer on my thoughts.
"Plus who is going to be consoling Sorak there?"

"The commander raises a valid concern," Sorak replied with his usual aplomb, "As you can see, I am beside myself with worry."

Davy, aka GM

OOC: Got it. Thanks for clarifying it.

So, I'm going to call the sneaking in a Daring + Security, just for its audaciousness. And, given you're going with two other people in the room fully aware of their surroundings, I'm calling it Difficulty 3. So, that said...

3 Successes vs. Difficulty 3. Success!

Now, as this is her movement (to sneak into Close Range of the target), so please give me another Daring + Security task vs. Difficulty 1 for your melee attack. This is normally opposed, but I'm going to say that, because the man is so oblivious to your presence, the target automatically fails his attempt.

Ally just blatantly sneaks into the room. Maybe it's her slighter stature, or maybe its her native garb (even if it's of the Tyreen style), but the security officer's arrival is simply beneath their notice. She comes up behind the man at the work bench and attempts to pistol whip him (a novel concept to a culture that's only been fed the workings of long arms...).
"Course, sir?"

"Out there...thataway."

Doug Burke

Ally attack Task:
Daring (8) + Security (4), Total 12

Spending 1 Momentum for Create Opportunity.

Rolled 3d20 : 6, 12, 3, total 21
"Plus who is going to be consoling Sorak there?"

"The commander raises a valid concern," Sorak replied with his usual aplomb, "As you can see, I am beside myself with worry."

Doug Burke

At least three successes, as her Personal Protection or Starfleet Self Defense foci may apply. If so, it's four successes.
"Plus who is going to be consoling Sorak there?"

Davy, aka GM

#505
OOC: Starfleet Self Defense most certainly applies. 4 Successes vs. Difficulty 1. Success, plus 3 Momentum generated.
The Apellan, as mentioned earlier, automatically fails his task, so Ally wins the opposed task, with 3 Momentum generated.

Go ahead and roll damage. Use the bludgeon (2[CD] Damage, plus Knockdown) stats.

Current
Momentum 2 (3 pending, Ally)

Doug Burke

It would be 2 [CD] + Security, right?

6 [CD]:
Rolled 6d6 : 3, 2, 3, 3, 1, 5, total 17

Still stewing on momentum...
"Plus who is going to be consoling Sorak there?"

"The commander raises a valid concern," Sorak replied with his usual aplomb, "As you can see, I am beside myself with worry."

Doug Burke

Okay. 1 Momentum to reroll those 3s.

Rolled 3d6 : 3, 1, 4, total 8

And we'll likely use the other 2 to keep the initiative.
"Plus who is going to be consoling Sorak there?"

OOC: With 0 Resistance, 5 damage gets through. And he gains a non-lethal Injury, and is unconscious.

The butt of the phaser handle strikes the man's head with a solid thump. The Apellan straightens up in surprise, then falls leftward to the ground. Only then do the other two realize someone else is actually in the room.

OOC: Okay, 1 Momentum spent to reroll damage dice, and 2 Momentum spent to Seize the Initiative. (I had forgotten to apply Ally's 2 Create Opportunity to the Momentum total. You folks were down to 2 left for the attack test.)

Okay, who's up next? Cole? Specialist Jimmy? Specialist Tommy?
