OOC: Unless anyone has any objection, i'm going to use torpedoes.

Control (9) + Security (4) vs. Difficulty 3. Focus of Shipboard Tactical Systems. Spending 1 point of Momentum to gain an additional dice for the roll.

Rolled 3d20 : 18, 10, 4, total 32

Renny

OOC: Three successes generated. Now for the assist from the Drake -

Weapons (9) + Security (3)

Rolled 1d20 : 3, total 3

Renny

OOC: So another two success from the Drake for a total of 5.

Roll for damage

Rolled 6d6 : 3, 2, 6, 5, 2, 3, total 21

Renny

OOC: 6 damage with 2 effects, I think? I don't think the Effects do us any good. I'm going to spend the two momentum generated, 1 point on extra damage to increase it to 7, and 1 on Resistance to ignore 2 points of Resistance.

Patrick Goodman

I think that using both to overcome Resistance would be more beneficial to us, honestly.

OOC: 2 Successes from the ship assist, 3 Successes for Lear, for a total of 5 Successes vs. Difficulty 3. Success, plus 2 Momentum generated.

Base damage is indeed 6. We'll apply damage once you folks are agreed on Momentum spends.
"Course, sir?"

"Out there...thataway."

Renny

OOC: Happy to go with the skipper and just spend the 2 Momentum on removing Resistance.

Davy, aka GM

OOC: Spending 2 Momentum to overcome the scout's resistance. 6 damage - 0 resistance = 6 damage.

Damage Location
Rolled 1d20 : 3, total 3
"Course, sir?"

"Out there...thataway."

Davy, aka GM

OOC: That's an engine hit. 6 damage after resistance and their shields are depleted.

So, that's 1 Breach for 5+ damage after resistance, and 1 Breach for bringing their shields to 0. And, thanks to High Yield from photon torpedoes, anytime a torpedo attack causes at least 1 Breach, it causes 1 additional Breach.

3 Breaches against the scout's engines in one shot. Their engines are Disabled.

"Engine hit, captain," Tobin reports from his station. "They're offline and bleeding their power reserves."

OOC: Okay, I believe you folks are going to spend 2 Momentum (already noted below) to have Sorak perform a Power Management Task. Daring or Control + Engineering vs. Difficulty 2. (No ship assist.) Remember that Well-Oiled Machine is still in effect. You could pull Kolesnikov in to assist (and here is where I realize that the Crew Support limit may actually have some merit) and take the Difficulty down to 1.

Ship Status
B'Rel - Engines Disabled, 4 net Power spent, Shields -at 0, +1 Difficulty to hit in combat until Helm's next turn (On next attack before the end of the sensor operator's next Turn, the attack gains Piercing 2 quality and, if any d20s are purchased, the attack receives +1[CD] for each d20 purchased.)
L-9 A -
L-9 B -
Drake - Power Remaining 5/9, -1 Difficulty to hit in combat until Helm's next turn
I forgot to account for the power spent on the phaser attack. You should have 5 power left, instead of 6.

You are correct about the Momentum spend.

"When aboard the ship, the chief engineer always has the Advantage 'Engineering Department', which represents the ship's
complement of engineers and technicians." So it's already down to 1 because they're all assumed to be helping me. As for Well-Oiled Machine, I wouldn't want to use it with the CE ability, but if someone who's not normally Engineering (science or something) assists, I could see using it for that... (Like Scotty would get the CE ability for his crew and the other for Spock in the same circumstances, you could say). I'm moving forward as if only using Engineering Department. :)

Control + Engineering (10 + 5 = 15), Difficulty 1, Power Systems focus
Rolled 2d20 : 16, 1, total 17
"Plus who is going to be consoling Sorak there?"

"The commander raises a valid concern," Sorak replied with his usual aplomb, "As you can see, I am beside myself with worry."

Doug Burke

#1376
Looks like two successes for me, 1 success for Nikolai making it 3 success total. So that's success with 3 Momentum. I'm going to spend that Momentum and one more to bring us to full power +1.

Sorak returns to his console and speaks quietly with his team in Engineering as his fingers fly across the console. He pauses briefly and listens for a moment before replying, "Excellent suggestion, Mr. Kolesnikov. Proceed." After another moment, he nods in satisfaction and looks back to the Captain. "Full power and a wee bit more has been restored, sir. Ready when you are."
"Plus who is going to be consoling Sorak there?"

"The commander raises a valid concern," Sorak replied with his usual aplomb, "As you can see, I am beside myself with worry."

Davy, aka GM

OOC: Well-Oiled Machine can be used in conjunction with CE. The latter represents the resources of the department in general; the former is specific to a PC or supporting character. I'd allow Kolesnikov's expertise to benefit Sorak with WOM at the same time the rest of the department also assists under CE. So, that'll make the Difficulty 0.
