OOC: Spending 2 Momentum to Keep the Initiative.

Firing torpedoes costs 0 Power, but add 1 Threat for escalation.

With a flash out the forward tube, the torpedo streaks toward the shimmering effect that hides the Klingon scout ship. However, the nature of the cloaking device makes true pinpointing of a hidden vessel's spatial coordinates a difficult tasking, even for a computerized guidance system. The oscillating energy field of the torpedo briefly illuminates the B'Rel's hull in a ghostly, reddish glow as it passes, it's proximity rattling the scout's superstructure before detonating ineffectively somewhere ahead.

OOC: The Klingons will react, but I'll have to write that up and post it tomorrow. It's getting late, and I was distracted with checking out Whitstable Pearl (a bit too morose and depressing), Partners in Crime (a little far beyond suspension of disbelief), and the Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (ahh, comfort food)...

Ship Status
B'Rel - 1 net Power spent, +1 Difficulty to hit in combat until Helm's next turn
Drake - Power Remaining 8/9, -1 Difficulty to hit in combat until Helm's next turn

Roles That Have Acted This Round
B'Rel - Helm, Comms, Captain, Engineer
Drake - Maria, Miguel, Tobin, Lear

The Wounded
Cole - Injury/Stable (2 Complications)
Kowalski - Injury/Stable

Current
Momentum 4
Threat 4

Advantages & Complications
Well-Oiled Machine Advantage (when a PC or supporting character assists a PC on a shipboard task)
More Aggressive Strategy Advantage (Tyreen)
Educated Guess Advantage (when using ship's sensors to actively scan for cloaked ships)
Locked Onto Power Signature (reduces Difficulty on a single Helm maneuver or Attack that targets the Bird of Prey, but only after Sensor Operations successfully performs a Scan for Weakness task vs. Difficulty 3 against it; once the maneuver or attack is attempted, Sensor Ops must do another Scan for Weakness to trigger the benefit)
Trauma Shock Complication (Cole; Injury-related)
Massive Internal Injuries Complication (Cole; Injury-related)
"Course, sir?"

"Out there...thataway."

Davy, aka GM

OOC: Minor Action to deactivate the cloaking device; second minor action (at cost of adding 1 Momentum to player pool) to Raise Shields. Task Action to Remodulate Shields.

The Bird of Prey suddenly decloaks and raises shields.

OOC: Bird of Prey Weapons Officer Control + Security (10/3) vs. Difficulty 2. Assisted by ship's Structure + Engineering (7/2).
Rolled 2d20 : 7, 6, total 13

Rolled 1d20 : 20, total 20
"Course, sir?"

"Out there...thataway."

Davy, aka GM

OOC: 2 Successes vs. Difficulty 2. Success, but 1 Complication suffered. Spending 2 Threat to counter the Complication. Ship's Resistance increased by 1.

Locked Onto Power Signature Advantage is now ended.

Back to you folks.

"Well  look who decided to show up," Treyva said. "Mr.  DelVecchio, bring us in closer so we can introduce ourselves properly!"

Treyva is Directing Maria to close the distance between us and the B'Rel. It's been a while; do I roll anything?

OOC: Will this be an Impulse Task, moving to Standard Orbit VI at a cost of 1 Power, bringing the ship to within Long range (2 hexes) of the B'Rel? Or, will this be a Warp Task, moving to Near Orbit V at a cost of 3 Power (Medium range - 1 hex away) or to Near Orbit IV at a cost of 4 Power (Close range - same hex)?

Maria will roll a Control + Conn (10/4) vs. Difficulty 0 for Impulse or Difficulty 2 for Warp (since it's in close proximity to the planet's gravity well); her Helm Operations focus applies. The ship will assist with Engines + Conn (9/3). Treyva, since he's using the Direct Task, assists with Control + Command.

I added some color to the map to denote how I'm dividing the orbits. It's meant to mimic a curve more than a hex side. Hopefully, it's easier to read this way.

Patrick Goodman

Okay, guys, Treyva's order was pretty generic; Maria knows her stuff, and probably what the captain has in mind. The question we have to answer is, "How ballsy do we want our helmsman to be?"

Personally, I want to get to phaser range so Lear doesn't have to take a penalty on his shot, so I'm looking at a Warp Task to NO V for Medium range. I'm not married to that, however.

Doug, we're going to need Sorak working his Restore Power magic next turn....

In any case, here's Treyva's assist.

Treyva Assist roll, Control  + Command (10/5), TN 15

Let's light this candle.

I agree on medium range. And I was thinking the same on the power front. This turn just waiting for my chance. :)
"Plus who is going to be consoling Sorak there?"

"The commander raises a valid concern," Sorak replied with his usual aplomb, "As you can see, I am beside myself with worry."

Patrick Goodman

Might have to wait for next turn. I think if you're going to have your Riker moment, and since Lear has already acted this round, you're going to have to Direct him to fire, and I think that keeps you from recovering power. I might have misread.

Renny? Nolmir? What do you think, microwarp to Medium range, or something else?

OOC: Agree with the microwarp so we can start dishing it out.

Patrick Goodman

I think we're decided, but want to make sure Nolmir is on board with it. In the meantime, the ship also gets an assist. I'll do it since I'm bored, though Davy can ignore it if he prefers to roll it.

U.S.S. Drake Assist roll, Engines + Conn (9/3), TN 12
Rolled 1d20 : 2, total 2

Play nice....

Depends on if you want power before or after we fire...

Nolmir

OOC: Sorry guys, busy couple days. I think warping to Medium range is the way to go. Might as well press the advantage against the B'Rel.
