We seem to have an accord. I'm just trying to formulate how best to accomplish what we want, but I'm not sure it's going to work out. I want to use that Advantage, but Tobin's already gone with the Sensor Sweep. I could Direct him to do the Scan for Weakness, I suppose. Either way we're going to have to hold the initiative for another pass.

Am I reading that right, boss? One init pass to Scan for Weakness, another to fire phasers?

Would it be better, guys, just to fire with what we've got and press that Advantage next round? I'm thinking we need to act quickly before they maneuver away from our existing lock. If we could jolt them back to visibility, it would be really nice.

OOC: I think we should take the shot now, and at least show them we mean business. Go with what we have rather than what might or might not have next round.

Treyva looked to Lear. "We've given them a lot of chances," he said. "Let's show them we mean business. Mr. Lear, fire phasers."

OOC: Renny, please have Mr. Lear attempt a Control + Security Task vs. Difficulty 2, increased to Difficulty 4 because the B'Rel is at Extreme Range (2 range bands beyond Medium), with the ship assisting using Weapons + Security. The scout's evasive maneuvers and the Drake's attack pattern cancel each other out.
"Course, sir?"

"Out there...thataway."

Forgot about checking range. Drat. Lear could pull a Decker and mention torpedoes might be better...as he fires torpedoes. That would take it down to D3. Still have to rub some funk on it, but....

Lear's head swivelled at the order, diverting his attention momentarily from his display. He paused for a moment.

"Sir, they're pretty far out, we might stand a better chance with torps at this range."

OOC: Difficulty 3 instead of 4.
"Course, sir?"

Renny

"Aye sir, firing."

OOC: Control (9) + Security (4) vs Difficulty 3. Applicable Focus of Shipboard Tactical Systems. I'm going to spend a point of Momentum to roll an extra dice.

Rolled 3d20 : 19, 3, 14, total 36

Renny

OOC: That would seem to be two successes only against the three we need so let's hope the Drake comes through

USS Drake Weapons (9) + Security (3)

Rolled 1d20 : 6, total 6

Renny

OOC: Total of 3 successes against a Difficulty of 3 so that's a hit, right?

Damage of 6 CD

Rolled 6d6 : 6, 5, 5, 5, 2, 4, total 27

Bloody hell.

They're cloaked, so I think their shields are most likely down. Looks like 6 damage with 4 bleedin' Effects. I think someone's about to have a very subpar day....

OOC: Ugh, I screwed up. Base Difficulty for torpedoes is 3 (Core rules, p.226), so the attack would've had the same Difficulty 4 as phasers. Unfortunately, this means the shot just misses.

Since this was my screw up, you gents have the option to not make the attack. Or, you can take the miss (with the torpedo rumbling alongside the B'Rel's hull a la STII).
