OOC: Yeah, that makes sense to me too.

Davy, aka GM

OOC: Again, the consensus appears to be passing the next turn over to the Klingons.

Klingons are attempting a tight-beam transmission. Klingon Communications Control + Engineering (10/3) Hailing Frequencies Open Task vs. Difficulty 0, raised to Difficulty 1 by the tight-beam attempt, assisted by ship's Communications + Engineering (9/2).
Rolled 2d20 : 16, 1, total 17

Rolled 1d20 : 17, total 17
"Course, sir?"

"Out there...thataway."

Davy, aka GM

OOC: 2 Successes vs. Difficulty 1. Success, plus 1 Threat generated.

Miguel presses his receiver to his ear and frowns. After a moment, he reports, "I'm getting some subspace backscatter, Captain. The Klingons may have sent a vectored transmission."

OOC: I've been waffling all evening on whether to spend to keep the initiative, so I think that's a sign I should just turn it back over to you folks. What's next?

I haven't forgotten this. I just suddenly have two kids in Scouts and I haven't quite adjusted to the new schedule....

"They're probably calling for backup," Treyva said. "Miguel, open a channel to the bird of prey."

"Channel open, sir," he replied. "No response, but they should be able to hear you."

The captain rose from his chair. "This is the U.S.S. Drake, to the cloaked Klingon vessel we are currently pursuing: Greetings. I hope you're having a pleasant afternoon.

"You are in violation of a number of Federation laws, not to mention a number of treaties between our two governments. You are hereby ordered to leave both this system and Federation space immediately, or we will open fire."

He paused a moment, then added, "You might think this is an empty threat, but you'll notice that our weapons are currently locked onto your ship. Know this: We outgun you ten to one, we can keep up with you, and we know where you are. bIHeQbe'chugh vaj bIHegh!" With that, he motioned for Miguel to close the channel.

#1266
Sorak nodded in satisfaction after quickly noting first Engineering's readiness, and then the rest of the ship's. Turning forward to face the captain just as he finished delivering his ultimatum to the Klingons, the child raises an eyebrow, "Well spoken, Captain. All stations and departments report full readiness. This beats our most recent readiness drill by 2.64 seconds, sir."
"Plus who is going to be consoling Sorak there?"

"The commander raises a valid concern," Sorak replied with his usual aplomb, "As you can see, I am beside myself with worry."

Patrick Goodman

"I just hope my accent has improved," Treyva replied as he resumed his seat.

Davy, aka GM

OOC: 0 Successes for Miguel (and the ship's lack of successes doesn't matter) vs. Difficulty 1. Failure.

"I hate to say it, Captain," Miguel adds, "but I don't think they received the message; active rejection on their end. Your accent has improved, though."

OOC: Keep the initiative or move on?

"Well, that's good news, at least," he said as he turned back around. "Too bad; it was a good speech."

OOC: I think we should let the initiative go back to the Klingons. Unless we're going to actually fire on them, I don't see a lot we can do right this second. What say the rest of you?
