Found the 2295 crew in the new Drake's thread.

Okay, I'm trying to remember the crew lineup we put together for 2295. I have so far:

Commanding Officer - Captain Paula Tyler
Executive Officer - Lieutenant Commander (or Commander) Durham Cole
Chief Engineer - Lieutenant Commander Nikolai Kolesnikov
Chief Science Officer - Lieutenant Sonek
Chief Helmsman - Lieutenant, Junior Grade Miral
Chief Navigator - Lieutenant Commander Miruku Bong
Chief Security Officer - Lt. Tann-Tyra
Chief Communications Officer - (someone new)
Chief Surgeon - (someone new)
Phaser Control Officer - Lieutenant Katarina Schrepfermann

Does anyone remember if this is accurate? Other names I may have missed (or misplaced)?

Aside from Sonek's name being misspelled, that jives with my recollection. Although if Miral is class of 92, I'd see her as a JG in 95. Sonek is a year ahead of her, and was merit promoted to  JG for developing the structural integrity field; I'd see him as a full lieutenant by 95, or at the very least have his line number for promotion to lieutenant in hand.

"Plus who is going to be consoling Sorak there?"

"The commander raises a valid concern," Sorak replied with his usual aplomb, "As you can see, I am beside myself with worry."

Okay, the dice roller appears to be functioning again. The tags to use are {roll} and {/roll}, with square brackets. Example:

[ color=maroon ] [ size=3 ][ roll ]2d20[ /roll ][ /size ][ /color ]

Comes out like this:
This dice roll has been tampered with!
Rolled 2d20 : 12, 5, total 17

As usual, you can't preview or edit it without getting the tampering message.

If I was to do a more regular podcast...and I am considering it...what would you want to hear me and a guest talk about?

I'd be interested in hearing you talk more about your history with gaming, and your experiences with earlier Trek games in particular.

Davy, aka GM

Along those lines, I'd love to hear from writers/developers of the old FASA Star Trek game, if they're around and available to you.

Hey all. Just wanted to let you know I'll be away from the game for a few days after Wednesday as I'm off to the Isle of Wight festival for the weekend , back next Tuesday. Obviously feel free to use Cole as needed to keep the story moving.

2nd Ed. Milestones
Very player oriented in 2nd ed. Hard to adapt this...I'll have to think more about it.

After more thought, I strongly object to the concept that player-facing advancement is inherently better than advancement that "happens passively in the background or at the gamemaster's discretion."

We've only completed five episodes using STA, so our advancement of experienced characters was always a bit arbitrary; trying to figure out where the character arcs are within those episodes is extremely difficult.

Treyva has been around for all 15 episodes. Cole for five and Tobin for four. Of course, this last episode is the first for Voshen and Chev.

Trying to link various mission logs will be difficult, but you gents could attempt that. Patrick will have the most difficult time, as 11 of his episodes used Coda. That would be the most "organic" way to rebuild the characters in 2nd edition, though it will likely result in less advanced characters than we started.

Personally, I would prefer to forgo the player-facing advancement and modify the model we've been using since we switched to STA:
No advancement after your character's episode numbers: 1, 4, 8, 13, 19, etc.
Milestones after your character's episode numbers: 2, 5, 6, 9, 10, 11, 14, 15, 16, 17, etc.
Character Arcs after your character's episode numbers: 3, 7, 12, 18, etc.

2nd Ed. Reputation
2nd ed. base Reputation is 3. So, 1st Ed. 10 Reputation converts to 3. So, I still feel 1st ed. Reputation divided by 5, round off. Add 1 works the best:

1st Ed 1-2 = 2nd Ed 1, 3-7 = 2, 8-12 = 3, 13-17 = 4, 18-20 = 5
Also, if you have awards, etc., and they have a direct analog, just add them to your character sheet.

One interesting thought is to try to use your individual past rolls to go through each Reputation roll using 2nd Ed. and apply the results as best you can...however, I'd prefer to keep it simple in this case.

Supporting Character Conversions

Gents, we have quite a few characters (30!) to convert over to 2nd Edition. I put the list below.

I think, to split some things up, we'll say that, nominally, if the character is in your department (Command for Patrick, Science for Nolmir, Security for Renny, Helm & Nav for socrates, and Communications for Chev), you get first dibs on doing the conversion/rebuild; however, there are a few characters who are legacy characters - either played by or important to certain players. I've put an asterisk by the names of those characters.

Outside that, I'll handle the work for Dr. Dourap, Capt. Sorak (and his family), and Lt. Kolesnikov.

Once we've divvied out the department/legacy characters, we'll look at who's left and break up tasks, so that everyone has a good number to work on.

When you've finished a character, don't post them; instead, send them to me in a PM and I'll create a new thread for 2nd Ed. Supporting Characters.

I'm game. I'll make a start on the security characters in the next week or so.

Patrick Goodman

I'll get started on the ones with my name on them, and the ones most directly connected to Treyva that aren't marked as yet.

Man, we have a bunch of supporting characters....
