Born in the rural north of England, Ally Banks spent many hours of her youth staring up at the running lights of ships streaking against the night sky. Determined to go "up there," she enlisted in Starfleet upon completing her O and A level assessments (which included a two-year stint at York College), and followed a career path that suited her physicality. After a year in training, her first assignment was station security at Starbase 11; in early 2288, she transferred to USS Drake and has since gained the notice (for good or ill) of the senior staff.

She's been dating Robert "Bobby" Indigwe-Krane, Commodore Krane's grandson, since early 2288. The commodore is unaware of the pairing.
