Hearing his mate's shouted command, Sorak turned away from the security panel and rushed back into the main hall, his weapon ready. He noted T'Kiri's sightline, aimed his weapon based on her focus and decided to take the stairs to the second level.
#2
Sorak paused before following Cole's team into the house and opened his communicator to quietly reply, "Cole's team has just entered the house. T'Kiri and I are about to follow. Current position of suspect relative to other life signs on that level would be useful."

QuoteSorak and T'Kiri materialize near Specialist Welsh, and he and Lt. Lear turn at their arrival. The lieutenant reports, "Specialist Banks is down. Lt. Cole is investigating ahead." He points toward the other side of the atrium. As he does so, they hear the whine of the ship's transporter (and the darkened features of the garden are illuminated by its effect).

Sorak nods, "My parents are in their bedchamber on the upper level and my father is taking a defensive position there. By all means, carry on. We will will follow your lead."

Sorak ends the connection to Lear and initiates a new one to the ship, "Sorak to Drake, priority call for Captain Treyva."

While waiting to be connected, he turns to his wife, "Please attempt to contact my parents. I will arrange to have us transported to the estate."

Once connected, the engineer explained the situation to Treyva with the economy of words and stone-cold demeanor of a Vulcan tightly controlling his emotions. "As yet, there has been no contact with my parents. I will have the Drake transport T'Kiri and I to the estate to assist Cole's team."

QuoteSorak is awakened by his communicator beeping. T'Kiri is stirred by the sound, as well.

Sorak flipped open his communicator, "Sorak here." He then listened as Lear filled him in on the situation. "I see. I will inform the Captain and will be arriving in scene shortly. Please keep me updated on the situation."

OOC: While Vulcans can function at full capacity on less rest than most species, this case seems to lack the dire urgency that would indicate a reduced rest period.

"Forgive me, Professor, it is my Captain," Sorak explains as he retrieves his communicator and flips it open, "Sorak here, sir."

Before Treyva can respond, T'Kiri's communicator also beeps for attention.

Quote"Kavoran, you said his name was? I do not recognize it, nor did I recognize the color scheme of his academic robes."

Sorak holds up a finger, "Is it not possible that Kavoran's robes were monastic, rather than academic? Many adepts could provide such a skilled debate, could they not?"

Quote"Does noting a parallel and taking solace in it make one superstitious? Would the reeds be considered superstitious for drawing delight from the fact that our relationship has grown as they have?"

"Superstitious or not, the solace itself is its own reward, I would think," the engineer replies with a half-smile. "And, has they the cognition to support such ruminations, I am certain the reeds would likely agree."

On entering Sanak's office, Sorak sobers and nods sagely to the professors greeting. "We are honored by your hospitality, professor," He says, "and come seeking your input regarding a public discussion you held with Kavoran outside a recent conference."

QuoteAs they pass a pair of potted plants that were brand new when the couple were students, she observes with a slight smile of contentment, "I find it intriguing that, through the context of emotional memory, mundane items and locations take on a significance when viewed through a particular 'lens,' as it were. It was by those reeds that we planned our first date, and they have since grown and created new shoots, symbolic of our own growth from the seeds planted that day."

Sorak nods thoughtfully, "One wonders, would it be considered superstitious to be glad that the plants are still as healthy as our relationship,  and vice verse?"
#11
Sorak nods, "I concur. Perhaps that should be our next step?"

Quote"My interest, though, wants to return to the impromptu debate. The external areas of the conference center are all covered by sensors; at least one of them should have captured it.

"I understand the logic of not pursuing what in isolation appears to be a non-incident, but, in light of the conference's connections to the deceased, it can no longer," she notes. "We also should see if Treyva is willing to delve deeper into the transcripts of the each keynote address, if he has not already begun to do so."

Sorak raises an eyebrow and nods, "Agreed on both points.  If you would access the sensor logs,  I shall make a suggestion to the capitan."

Sorak goes over the list of incidents at the conference before Shaking his head, "The only incident that seems related to me is the spirited debate from the second day of the conference. But that seems to be a dead end, informationally."

He thinks for a moment and then says, "I still feel that we are looking at an incomplete image. There is at least one piece of the puzzle eluding our grasp."

Quote"The algorithm Asha formulated did not uncover anything beyond the conference," T'Kiri notes. "However, their participation in a conference subtitled 'Surakian Values in a Professional Life' would indicate a stronger than average affinity for tuSurak. It may be useful to understand just how strong their affinity was."

"Indeed," Sorak replied, his brows still furrowed, "So rather than direct association with, what about their opposition to our beliefs? Have any of them clashed in one way or another with the Jarokovan? Or could there there an outside party trying to make the Jarokovan appear to be the perpetrators of these crimes?"

QuoteApproval for the information comes quickly, and is followed in short order by the information itself. T'Kiri forwards the report to T'Kalla's terminal address, then scans the document to familiarize herself with the basics.

She furrows her brows as she reads the last section.

Sorak notes his wife's concern and glances at the report over her shoulder, reading the relevant information.

His brows also furrow, "Intriguing. However, this does provide an additional lead to pursue. What connection do the victims have to Tu-Jarok?"
