Messages - Chev ch'Valk

#1
Chev listens to the rest of the away team, but after hearing Cole, the ensign speaks up. "Sir, I was thinking just the opposite from what Cole suggested. If we know where Kavoran is, I'd suggest sending one of us there to let him see us, and gauge his response from there."

ch'Valk bounces up and down several times on the balls of his feet before lowering his head and dashing for the safety of the gate, one arm thrown across his mouth in defense against the storm. It's only when he reaches the gate that he realizes he had been attempting to hold his breath as he ran.

Moving quickly through the gate, the ensign turns to see if the rest of the team has made it.

I will take that newly-minted Momentum and use it now, please!

"My hero," grins Chev weakly in slightly accented Zaranish. He leans his head back against his seat for a moment, taking a deep breath in through his nose and exhaling slowly through his mouth to combat the nausea and control the adrenaline fighting for control of his system.

Releasing  safety harness, the ensign rises, checking that his communicator and phaser are attached and ready to go. As a member of a heat-averse species, he wasn't looking forward to the next bit, but then again he always fancied thrill rides whenever he went to a theme park, and really, the only difference here was the heightened potential for injury or death, so...

"Same sir," he said, adding to Voshen's declaration.

Chev takes the Trill's hand, understanding the gesture of greeting, originally meant to show that a person was unarmed. "Th'irichev Echib ch'Valk, sir, communications. Pleased to meet you."

Strapping himself in, the Andorian cocks a half-smile at Voshen before taking a deep breath, attempting to settle his nerves. He wasn't a fan of atmospheric entry on the best of days; the thought of flying through a Vulcan sandstorm was tightening his sphincter quite unpleasantly.

Ah, thinks Chev, a Tellarite. Finally someone who doesn't mask their true feelings behind a veneer of logic.

"I'm Ensign ch'Valk, new to the ship," he says to the doctor. "My friends call me Chev, so I assume you'll call me Ensign. I'm here for someone named Voshen? We're on the away team down to the surface. Flying a shuttle through a sandstorm, so you know, we may never see each other again." He shrugs, feigning sadness, then looks to the isolation chamber and adds, "If he puts a Vulcan salute against the glass and starts talking about friendship, I'm leaving."

Th'irichev Echib ("Chev") ch'Valk
Ensign, Starfleet
Communications Officer, USS Drake (NCC-2491)

22 year old Andorian male

Trait: Andorian. This trait may reduce the Difficulty of Tasks to resist extreme cold, or Tasks impacted by extremely low temperatures. Their antennae aid in balance and spatial awareness; a lost antenna can be debilitating until it regrows. Andorians also have a high metabolism, meaning, amongst other things, that they tire more quickly than Humans; this also makes them more vulnerable to infection from certain types of injury. Before the Federation, Andorians and Vulcans had numerous disputes; though these issues are largely considered to be ancient history, Andorians and Vulcans don't always get along.

Talents
The Ushaan(Andorian): You are experienced in the tradition of honor-dueling known as the Ushaan, having spilt much blood upon the ice. When you make a melee Attack, or are targeted by a melee Attack, and buy one or more d20s by adding to Threat, you may re-roll the dice pool for the Task. Further, you own an Ushaan-tor, a razor-sharp ice-miner's tool used in these duels.

Mean Right Hook: Your Unarmed Strike Attack has the Vicious 1 Damage Effect.

Intense Scrutiny: Whenever you succeed at a Task using Reason or Control as part of an Extended Task, you may ignore up to two Resistance for every Effect rolled.

Untapped Potential: The character is inexperienced, but talented and with a bright future in Starfleet. The character may not have or increase any Attribute above 11, or any Discipline above 4 while they have this Talent. Whenever the character succeeds at a Task for which they bought one or more additional dice with either Momentum or Threat, they may roll 1 effect die. The character receives bonus Momentum equal to the roll, and adds one point to Threat if an Effect is rolled. The character cannot gain any higher rank than lieutenant (junior grade) while they possess this Talent.
