Treyva nodded at Voshen. "By all means, Lieutenant," he said, turning to Cole and Chev. "Under no circumstances are any of us to approach this Kavoran alone. As I said on the shuttle, he's demonstrated an exceptional capacity for violence; there's been enough blood shed already, and I don't want any more. Ensign, you and I will go to the meditation area. Mr. Cole, Principal Investigator T'Kiri, please carry out your search as you see fit."

He looked at Nahwoor. "Where is this period of meditation taking place?"

Treyva approached the monk, trying to compose his thoughts as he did so. Finally he said, "As you have likely surmised, it is a matter of some importance." He drew a breath, and then continued. "We have been investigating a series of murders that have been taking place over the past several weeks. A considerable amount of evidence has led us here.

"Our investigation has led us to believe that one of your number might have suffered a mes-stirila kloshai-has, which we think has led him to act in a manner that is not normally typical of his nature. We also believe this has led him to use a weapon from this monastery to commit these murders." He turned to look at T'Kiri before going on. "We have obtained a warrant to search this place. Principal Investigator?"

The Perfect Opportunity spend gets me an additional die that's rolled an ace, so I count 3 Successes against difficulty 2. And I got my Determination back.

If I'm right, bank that Momentum; I have a sneaky feeling we're going to need it. Soon.

Nah, we're reaching the climax here, so doing something dramatic seems reasonable to me. Using 1 point of Determination for Perfect Opportunity. So noting in my character sheet.

Also rolling to see if my Veteran talent gets me that point of Determination back.

I'll take it how I can get it. Gonna shoot for D2 and the Vulcan term, but if I can only get the Fed Standard version, I'm not going to knock it.

Treyva considers Sorak a very close friend; with his father as a target, this is obviously personal. Could I invoke my "Family is Paramount" Value to access my Determination?

OOC: Is there a Vulcan term for a mental breakdown? A situation where cognitive dissonance has caused a person to break with reality and act contrary to their nature? Something that would be considerably more diplomatic than "We think one of your monks has become a delusional, homicidal psychopath?"

I will roll for that knowledge if necessary.

As the shuttle leaves the hangar deck, the captain, who has been unusually quiet since the landing party started gathering, finally speaks up. "I want phasers on heavy stun," he said, his voice subdued. "If this man is the one we're really after - and I believe the evidence says that he is - he has demonstrated a capacity for exceptional violence. I expect trouble, and I want all of you to be on your guard at all times."
